My tapestry The Dump I was selected for this summers big event in the field of Norwegian textile art, a huge exhibition of works in the old Textile factory.

Welcome to this summer’s textile exhibition MORSKIPET at Fossekleiva Kultursenter, in the old weaving factory in Berger. The exhibition mainly shows recent works, but also includes some works from the 1990s and 2000s. Among 300 applicants, the jury has selected 53 artists, the majority of whom are members of the visual arts organization Norwegian Textile Artists.
The jury has looked for works with a clear voice and their own power, and has deliberately highlighted works with bodily references, especially where the human face has been removed, hidden or toned down. In this way, the factory building itself is made to stand out as the exhibition’s main character; a vessel that invites the audience to navigate through textile stories across floors and rooms. By anonymizing the human, we hope that the exhibition can be part of a larger, universal story, and at the same time be a tribute to craftsmanship and the deep roots of textile tradition in our lives.
