2013 New year, new colors

Dear friends and colleagues!

2013 started with the long flight home from my stay at The Australian Tapestry Workshop, where I attended the Artist in Residency program. I had the most wonderful time, meeting the super skilled weavers and doing my own work in such an inspiring environment.

Back home a letter was waiting for me: The City of Oslo has assigned me with financial support for 2013, from the “Arts and Culture Support Program”. Very good news! I had almost forgotten about it because the application deadline was in May. Now I have to get busy communicating my work to the citizens of Oslo.

The next months I will be working on the comission I have at Søndeled Primary School, near the town of Risør. Other plans for this new year are a trip in June to the Rijswijk Textile Biennial 2013. Such a lovely time to visit the Netherlands! Twenty really interesting artists from many countries has been chosen to participate in this exhibition.

Last year was a very busy year for me, with two major solo shows, “The Rememberance of the Sun” at RAM gallery in Oslo and “Kabooom” at Vestfold kunstsenter. I also participated in some group shows, two of them in Oslo: ”Ulp glubb svoosh..”…” with Tonje Høydahl Sørli and Tove Pedersen at SOFT gallery,“The Annual Craft Exhibition 2012” at The National Museum.

”Artapestry3” opened in May at Art Center Silkeborg bad in Denmark, and I was happy to be able to go to the opening, meeting great people and enjoy the nice surroundings of the Museum! The Artapestry3 are currently on show at the Museum of Central Finland.

The last event before I went to Australia was a week of great fun in Istanbul at “Interception 3”. Ten Norwegian and ten Turkish textile artists came together for the exhibition. Between hanging the show, the opening, workshops in the gallery, we also had time to visit a Turkish bath, a cruise on the Bosporus and visiting the highlights of old Istanbul.
